Chin rebels strike deal with gov’t during peace talks

The Chin National Front (CNF) and a government peace team have agreed
 to 27 points from a 33-point plan presented by the armed group
 during talks last weekend.

The Burmese former monk believes he was held to prevent him from protesting 
against a police crackdown.
A leading activist and former monk in Burma was freed on bail Monday after 
spending more than a week in detention where authorities questioned him 
about his involvement with a number of monasteries they believed
 to be engaged in dissident activities.

UN CALLS FOR ACCESS TO KACHIN REFUGEES

The United Nation's Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs 
and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos used her recent visit 
to Burma this week to publicly urge the Burma's government to allow 
the UN to resume aid shipments to Kachin civilians displaced 
from the ongoing fighting.

Village administrators summoned by Nasaka

All the village administration officers who live under Nasaka (Burma’s border security force) 
area No.7 in Maungdaw South, in Arakan state, were recently summoned for a meeting 
with the Nasaka commander.

Union commission investigates 14 more cases of land confiscation in Arakan

The Land Investigation Commission that has been formed by the Union Parliament
 is now conducting field investigations for the second time for 14 more cases of
 confiscation of agrarian lands in Arakan State.
