Rakhine in emergent need of US$41 million for rehabilitation

Impacts of China backed copper mines to be assessed

Parliament has approved on November 23 the formation of an independent 
commission to assess the social and environmental impacts of China backed 
copper mines in central Myanmar.

A parliamentary representative of the National league for Democracy party 
submitted the proposal to review impacts of the copper mines on social, 
environmental and national interest.

New Zealand declares $5.71m in aid to Myanmar

New Zealand has announced US$5.71 million (NZ$7m) in aid to Myanmar.
The announcement came after a meeting between New Zealand Prime Minister 
John Key and President Thein Sein in Nay Pyi Taw on November 22.

Over 15,000 companies evade tax payment in Myanmar

Out of the registered 30,606 companies, over 15,000 firms are evading 
payment of taxes, according to the records of Inland Revenue Department.
The statics also show that the tax-to-GDP ratio in Myanmar is at the lowest 
level among Asean countries.

A total of 15,408 companies have been registered at the Directorate of 
Myanmar Investment and Company Administration. However, 
only 10,290 firms reported their income tax.

Myanmar invites third-party countries for Dawei deep-sea port project

Myanmar has invited investors from third-party countries besides Thailand for 
the Dawei deep-sea port project, Kan Zaw, minister of national planning 
and economic development, told Eleven Media Group.
