Thai govt approves budget for Myanmar-linked projects

May 21 (Reuters) - The Thai government has approved a 33.1 
billion baht ($1.1 billion) budget for infrastructure in the west 
of the country that will link up with a planned $50 billion port 
and industrial zone in Dawei over the border in Myanmar.

Thailand has approved 203 projects that will cost more than 
30 billion baht (US $1 billion) to support a deep-sea port and 
an industrial zone in Burma’s southern town of Dawei, 
according to The Bangkok Post.

KIA attack blamed for loss of electricity in Rangoon

A decrease in electrical power in Rangoon on Saturday was caused 
by an explosion at four electrical towers on the national power grid. 
The government said the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) 
was responsible for the attack.
