Chin state collects tax on Gamoan

Chin state authorities have imposed a tax on the cultivation of Gamoan,  
which is akin to ginger but derived from the orchid and lily families. 
Local people in Chin state grow asGamoanas a cash crop.
“Gamoan is planted on hillsides like paddy. Tax is being collected for 
cultivation of a cash crop farmers need to support themselves,” 
said a local from Paletwa Township, Chin state.

Car crash kills six migrant workers in Thailand

At least seven people including six Burmese illegal migrant workers were killed 
in Thailand on Wednesday after their pickup plunged into a canal trying to 
avoid a police checkpoint, police said. The accident occurred in Ban Phreak 
district of Ayutthaya province, about 75 kilometres north of Bangkok.
