Rakhine State sees rising birth rate

The birth rate in the northern parts of Rakhine State is increasing at an alarming rate, 
sources said.
Three areas, Maungdaw, Butheedaung, and Rathaytaung, have grown overcrowded. 
In Maungdaw, for instance, there are 870 people per square mile.

Government launches air strike on KIA

Four fighter jets and two helicopters attacked Kachin Independence Army (KIA) 
positions near the Laiza headquarters capital on Friday. In the morning, 
military planes struck KIA positions in Lajayang - located less than 10 miles south of Laiza.

US dollar goes up in Burma

The US dollar has gone up again against the kyat due to demand.
“In the third week of December, the buying rate was 847 kyat to the dollar, 
and the selling rate was 854 kyat. On December 21, the buying rate increased 
to 852 kyat while selling for 858,” said Ye Naing, an import-exporter.
