Mekong River travel safer

14 March 2012
(Mizzima) – Attacks on boats traveling on the Mekong River have gone
down since China, Burma, Laos and Thailand have cooperated in patrolling
the river they share. The China Daily newspaper quoted Meng Sutie,
the director of the public security department in Yunnan Province,
on Tuesday, who said drug gangs and river pirates have mounted
only occasional and isolated attacks since joint patrols began late last year.
